20: Bragging Rights
I had no idea what would happen on this trek and was pleasantly surprised. While these photos don’t give it nearly any justice, these are a few snapshots into the experience, the views and the moments in between.
This was a very proud moment…once we could get into our shot. We sat and watched a group of 20+ Nepali 20-somethings take a million photos of themselves first. Instagram bragging rights is real in any country.
This bridge was terrifying! These are all over Nepal. But this one was the biggest we walked over. In the middle, the bridge shakes violently. You just sort of do your best and keep walking.
At the end of day 1, we had this view of the valley we just walked through.
Poon Hill. Aka, the extra hike I took at 4:30am. The views were incredible it but this was a LONG day and I could have seen almost the same exact view from another ridge. You live and learn. Also, I AM WEARING HIKING BOOTS AND HAVE HIKING POLES. Who am I??
Sunset heading up the valley to Basecamp. And we’re still walking…
Some seriously gorgeous views.
More scenery.
The grandeur of the valley as we head closer to Basecamp. And note the tiny people on the trail to the right.
The first basecamp, Machapuchare. About 2 hours away from the last basecamp at 13,500 feet.
Sunrise! Not too bad.
If you’re not laughing you’re crying on this trek. Pink hat, pink pants, can’t fail.
